The music curriculum for the passage from kindergarten through second grade will support vocal development (matching pitch, range, tone quality and increasing technical facility) and introduce students to use of symbols in music notation, through reading and writing exercises. They will also use movement exercises to internalize rhythm and phrasing nuances.
Grading will be to assess students' mastery of expected grade-level standards to indicate whether they are performing at or above expected levels, or if further encouragement is needed. Please see the document below for a clear explanation of grading marks.
